Texas Holdem Rules and Strategies, History and poker and advances tips for players - A blog by a Pro!

Like any other game, Texas Holdem has its fundamental rules and practices. They may not be apparent to the casual observer but for the aspiring Texas hold’em poker professional they should be sharpened and honed to achieve the levels required to take home some of the significant prized on offer in today’s online Texas hold’em poker tournaments.

The saying goes that Texas Hold’em is a deceptively simple game to learn but a much harder game to master. Each hand begins with players being dealt two hole cards and then five community cards. The community cards are turned up on the board. The player has to make the best five card hand using any combination of the seven cards. That’s sound pretty simple but Texas hold’em poker is much more complicated than that.

The truth is that the drama that Texas hold’em poker generates is so electrifying, with the possibility of life changing sums of money being won on the turn of one card. To reach this dramatic finale, players often have to grind away for hours on end, and endless preliminary rounds before reaching the final stages of an online tournament.

Players must be totally focused on the game at all times, and pick up on all the rhythms going on amongst their opponents. The slightest sign can be a giveaway to the strengths of the weaknesses of any given hand or tactic. If weaknesses are discovered, rest assured that they will be cruelly and ruthlessly exploited.

So in order to succeed as a Texas hold’em poker professional, a player has to have these traits. Otherwise chances of showing a profit will be pretty slim.

The other strong trait that a Texas hold’em poker player should possess or at least develop is a strong mathematical brain. They must be capable of calculating how each turn of the card will affect the strength of their hand, and that of their opponents.

They must always be aware of the value of their chip count, and their opponents also, The more chips that they have in their stack, the better chance they have of wearing down their opponents, especially in the later stages of a tournament.

Put all the fundamental skills and attributes together, and you have the makings of a Texas hold’em poker player. One who will at least win more than they will lose, whilst at the same time take a lot of enjoyment from playing Texas hold’em poker online.
